My name is Aislyn Bryan and I’m a technically proficient, forest dwelling introvert living on top of a mountain in Pine, Colorado. I like to build things, mostly digital, like this site and some other projects, but I spend most of my time on Urban Maille, the business I’ve been running with my husband, Gary, for over 20 years now.
A long time ago, when Gary and I moved from low altitude to the mountain, I got really sick. I had altitude sickness, but that triggered other problems. It was pretty bad, went on for over a decade, and there were times when I seriously wondered if I was going to survive it.
I went to doctors at first, as one does, but they only seemed to want to make me comfortable, as opposed to finding the actual problem and solving it. My mother’s pharmaceuticals wrecked my childhood, so I just could not go down that path, no matter how bad I felt. There are a couple of doctors in my family, so I asked some questions off the record, hoping to get some insight or something… but no.
With no better options making themselves apparent, I decided to find my own answers, solve my own problems, and stop putting something as important as my health and well-being in the hands of people that are just never going to care as much as I do.
This blog is the story of what happened and how it all turned out.
Nice to meet you.
